Hi There, beautiful Indians!!
How have you been? Hope you are having a great celebration of our 72nd Independence Day, the day we attained freedom from the Britishers. This week our blog is a little different from our usual posts. This one is about “INDEPENDENCE DAY” and the things we Indians need freedom from to be really called an Independent and free country.
Independence and Freedom are cherished by people all around the world. India like any other country celebrates her Independence with zeal and fervor, but are we really free? We have realized that we are very opinionated people and we have opinions for everything like from clothes of a woman, cause of rapes, inter religion marriages to cause of illiteracy in India… If we see a woman in short dress at a club at 11:00 pm we form an opinion that she is easy or if we see a Hindu girl marrying a Muslim boy we assume this marriage won’t last longer… why are we so opinionated?
We often hear – “If a woman is dark skinned no one will marry her”, if she is fat we all together advise her to get her thyroid checked, give her yoga tips or diet tips so that she gets a suitable alliance , if someone is not married till the age of 26 or 27 the society starts suggesting poojas, matrimonial sites and what not and if someone gets married early the society again has opinions on her early marriage. If a couple doesn’t have kids for 2 years after marriage again people start asking and suggesting various poojas, and doctors etc.
We feel it is high time we all need to rise above all this and stop body shaming, age shaming, wasting the natural resources of our country and throwing waste everywhere and support each other in their decisions … lets be supportive of each other only then in real sense we will be a free nation where we will have freedom to wear and do what we like and do what we like without caring about the neighboring house aunties’ opinion.
We have repeatedly heard a question “but what can one person do?”. We believe A LOT. All we need to do is do our bit, like supporting each other, being there for each other, saving water, giving what we do not require to those who need it, trying not to see women as an object of lust… etc which will make our country free of crime against women.
Patriotism is not a feeling that should come around only on Republic day or Independence Day, but every day. We all need to understand that we all hold the power and energy to Revolutionize India; take it to new heights, but all that is not going to happen through our phones or posting pictures. We must make the change in our hearts and minds, then begin to act on it. And today at shopaholic adventures we pledge to stand by each other, detoxify our minds from all opinions and judgements and make India a progressive nature in real sense. And we expect the same promise from each one of you…
Remember every tiny step counts. JUST BEGIN.
Happy 72nd Independence Day
